All Saints is by far the oldest church in Wigan, the earliest possible mention of a church at Wigan occurs in the Domesday Survey of 1086.

Ince, Greater Manchester
Christ Church, locally known as Ince Parish was consecrated in 1864, constructed of rock faced buff stone and designed by EG Paley a well known architect of the time.The church is a grade ll listed building,simply laid out with north and south transepts and vestries and the nave has a hammer beam roof. the stained glass windows are beautiful depicting stories from the Bible and Holman Hunt’s Light of the World is in the south transept. Another feature is the rose window. Much of the funds to build the Church was given by two local philanthropic sisters Margaret Eleanor and Amelia Gidlow. The sisters also gave money towards the cost of building the local hospital,The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.
The church was re-ordered in 1990. The west end of the church is now on two levels giving a useful space for Sunday School and other activities on the ground level and a hall on the upper level which is currently used as a food pantry and warm space for the local community. Both areas have a small kitchen and on the lower level are male and female toilets with disabled access and baby change facilities. There is a ramp as you enter the church and a lift to the upper level.
