Dog friendly rural church in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

Welcome to our beautiful and ancient church serving the villages of Sutton, Lound and Barnby Moor.

The church is at the centre of the village and since modernisation has been used as a community centre.

Our beautiful church is known as Barnsley’s 'hidden gem' (as described by John Betjeman).

Built between 1851 and 1853 at a time when the town was rapidly expanding and prosperous, the church is vast, with a magnificent tower with octagonal spire reaching to some 220 feet high, a landmark which can be seen for many miles around. 

The church is of Norman origin but has undergone considerable changes to its layout over the years.

This lovely village church is grade I listed and dates from the beginning of the 14th century, when stone from the demolished Norman church was reused to build the present one, in the Perpendicular style.

Mexborough parish church is very ancient in origin. Documents show that a church was on this site shortly after the Norman Conquest in 1066.

The village of Ranskill dates back to the 9th century.

The church is a fine example of late perpendicular architecture.

A unique church with its roots in Anglo Saxon times, packed with history, norman and early english architectural delights and is the focal point of our beautiful village of Bicker.
