Find a church

This medieval church is said to occupy the site where St Gwendoline was buried, reputedly one of many saintly descendants of the 5th century king Brychan Brycheiniog.

Hawkley is a lovely village in the South Downs National Park; the church is at the heart of the village and is a beautiful, welcoming and tranquil 19th century Romanesque style building with an unusual Rhenish helm spire and beautiful interior decoration and stained glass, set in an attractive churchyard.

There has been a church on this site since the 600s, the current church was erected in the 1300s with a bell tower of six bells - still active, added in the 1400s, it is a Grade I listed building and sits on the Welsh Coastal Path near Chepstow.

A medieval manor house complete with a moat (and now in the care of the National Trust) shares an idyllic location with this little church, which is recorded as early as 1349.

A church has existed on this site since Saxon times, but the oldest part of the present building dates from 1144.

The church dates back to Saxon times and was largely rebuilt between 1864 and 1867, it features 12th century herringbone masonry on the south wall, rather unique in this part of the country.  

The church is unusual in its long history in that it has been served by members of two religious orders: the Franciscans (1687-1857) and the Benedictines (1857-present).

Abergavenny parish church was founded in the late 11th century as the church of a Benedictine priory. It is the only part to survive, apart from the later tithe barn.

The church is situated centrally in Keswick and stands out by virtue of its tall spire.

A church has stood here since the 7th century, the current church was consecrated in 1090.
