Generally agreed to be one of the finest churches in Lincolnshire, St Helen's was already in the front rank before the Victorian architect GF Bodley added a sumptuous chancel, with painted vault and lavishly gilded reredos, in his late 19th century restoration.

A priest and two churches are recorded in Domesday Book for Collingham, however, the present stone church was largely built in the 13th century .

Our Cathedral, once a Methodist chapel, is now arranged in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and possesses the relic of part of Our Lady's veil and, among others, the original ikon of Blessed Elizabeth Barton, the Maid of Kent.
