The combination of church and cottages here is rural England at its most appealing.

A tiny Norman church nestled in the beautiful Swainswick and Woolley valley where the Battle of Lansdown was fought in 1643, it is even mentioned in the Domesday Book.

St Cuthbert’s is one of Thetford’s most widely recognised and best preserved buildings.

The spire, topped by a weathercock, is a local landmark as it can be seen for miles, at 150 feet tall.
