A 1900 building designed Paley & Austin of Lancaster and noted for its important heritage for its church fixtures.

St Mary’s was founded in 1170 by the Norman Lord, William de Lovetott. Of this church, only part of the chancel and the lower part of the tower remain.

A 12th century church.

St Augustine's is well known for its remarkable detached bell tower, its size and shape unlike any other in Britain.

The most memorable feature of the outside of the church is the square tower with its massive buttresses.

The village, but not the church, is mentioned in Domesday Book.

Charing is a pretty village, and Market Place is lined with old buildings of flint and brick, including the ruins of an archbishop's palace.

Like so many Romney Marsh churches this one seems far bigger than any population at any time could have justified, but in medieval times this was a rich and very busy landscape, filled with people who needed a place to worship.

Midhopestones is a hamlet, high in the Pennines north west of Sheffield, St James is a tiny rugged church, surrounded by a picturesque graveyard.
