The first view one has of the village is that of the tower of the greenstone church of St Margaret with its dominating red clock. Created in 1787 by horologist Edmund Howard, the long drop clock is truly a remarkable piece of engineering.

All Saints is an impressive sight. A maypole stands in Church Street and is a rare survival, the tradition of the maypole goes back to the 17th century and May Day continues to be celebrated by the village.

Burned during the Glyndwr risings in 1401, St Stephen's is a church with a history to rival any castle, , with a rare surviving medieval rood screen and possibly the oldest organ in the UK.
