We’re a church on a journey, in our 4th building in a little over 350 years.

The village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ‘Ferlei’ or ‘Fereleia’ which is thought to mean either ‘lea of the ferns’ or ‘the far lea’.

A beautiful 12th century church, set in a rural Hampshire village and adjacent to two ancient Yew trees which long predate the church.

It will be primarily the late 19th and 20th century stained glass that will draw you to this small medieval church at the centre of this handsome ironstone village.

The parish church of St Mary's lies at the centre of the village where it has stood on its present site for over eight hundred years.

A romantic church that stands alone, shorn of its former medieval village, looking out across the Capability Brown landscape of 1760’s toward Fawsley Hall, the seat of the Knightley family and now a country hotel.

It is believed that the present building has its origins in 12th century but there was probably an earlier Anglo Saxon or even Celtic church, for the boundary of the original churchyard forms an almost perfect circle, a feature shared with many churches of known Celtic origin.

The recorded history of the church begins in 1120 when Swein, son of Ailric granted the 'church at Hoderode' into the control of the monks at Nostell Priory.

This is a building to delight all those visitors who enjoy church architecture purely for its own sake.

St Michael & All Angels is set in a conservation area and provides a tranquil place to pause, reflect and feel refreshed.

This whitewashed church was built in 1643 in the shape of a Greek cross, having four arms of equal length.
