This large estate church in the woods with a tall spire was built for the Second Marchioness of Ailesbury by TH Wyatt in 1861.

The present church and burial vault were built for Richard (the 4th Earl Scarbrough 1725-82) in the classical style around 1775 and is believed to have been designed by Lancelot Capability Brown the great 18th century landscape architect.

The church of St Botolph is of considerable interest since it has indications of building in four different architectural styles over a period of some 900 years.

There has been a chapel on this site since 1835.

Situated at the highest point within the village, enables you to get the most fantastic views of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Viking Way and the rolling countryside.

On the western edge of the village below RAF Scampton, where the Dambuster raids were flown from and now home to the Red Arrows; there is an RAF chapel in the church with Squadron badges and there are several Commonwealth War Graves in the churchyard.

St Martin's, designed by George Bodley and completed in 1863, is famous in the area and features excellent examples of preRaphaelite stained glass.
