A wonderful Welsh church with a 6th century foundation, and there the village (famed across Wales for its sheltered beach and tasty fish and chips) grew up around the church.

A Victorian country church completed in 1856, built in Bath stone in the English Gothic style and set in the centre o the village, this was the first church to be designed by the architect Frederick Bodley, a student of Sir George Gilbert Scott.

It may seem an odd and perilous place to build a church, but St Cwyfan's originally stood at the end of a peninsula between two bays, as shown on John Speed's map of Anglesey from 1636.

Llanllugan Abbey was founded by Maredudd ap Rhobert, lord of Cydewain, it was the only religious house for women in North Wales and the former abbey church now serves as the parish church.

Near the North Wales Pilgrims Way and was founded in the 5th century by St Nefydd, this church has significant links to Welsh culture and language with Catherine of Berain, cousin of Elizabeth I and known as the Mother of Wales, said to be buried here.

Lying at the centre of the village and close to the banks of the River Gwili, the church has been the focal point of Llanpumsaint (parish of the five saints) for many centuries.

This exceptionally fine late medieval parish church was probably built with money raised from pilgrims visiting St Dyfnog's holy well.
