A Grade II listed church built in 1789 to a stark Georgian style and later tower hiding a beautiful interior with a tiered gallery, Venetian east window and seating for 1000 persons.
Slaithwaite, Yorkshire
The exterior of the church is stone and on three levels with Georgian windows and a distinctive chapel appearance.
The large tower was added at a later date and contains a listed clock. The east end is dominated by a Venetian window depicting the prodigal son. There is a fine organ and font and a lot of commemoration plaques. Some of the windows contain coloured quarry glass and some have stained glass.
The pews are Victorian, the interior having been reordered to seat more people, over 1000! The west end of the church contains a comfortable lounge and kitchen formed from part of the nave.

Situated in the centre of Meltham and was consecrated on St Bartholomew’s day 1651 by Bishop Henry Tilson a former Bishop of Elphin in Ireland, the church is believed to be one of a very few in England to be consecrated during the Commonwealth period.

Our church building, opened in 1819 originally seated 1500, oday the interior has been tastefully reordered to make it suitable for a wider range of activities for people of all ages; there are activities most days of the week and the church is opened regularly for viewing.
