Bishop's Lydeard, Somerset
The church dates from around 1450 and is built of red sandstone, with a tall, typically Somerset tower and contains a fabulous rood turret housing the spiral stair leading to the top of the rood screen.
Its tall, sturdy looking 14th century tower is one of the oldest features of this church, which incorporates a mix of differing styles.
Stogumber, Somerset
One Victorian vicar, a devotee of William Morris, redecorated the chancel with colourful Arts and Crafts work.
The chapel is a huge classical tomb, that of Sir George Sydenham, who died in 1597 and whose daughter married Sir Francis Drake.

Stogursey, Somerset
This is a priory church, presented soon after 1100 to the Benedictine Abbey of Lonlay, near Falaise in Normandy, but later reclaimed by Henry V. It was later given to Eton College by Henry VI.
Dunster, Somerset
An uneasy truce between priory and parish characterised the early history of this church: the townsfolk used the west end, while the monks worshipped at a separate high altar at the east end.
