There is evidence of Norman origins, the work of later periods includes an excellent 14th century Decorated chancel. The 12th century font is also beautiful.
The church was restored by Sir GG Scott in the 19th century.
A Grade I Listed Building it features both in Simon Jenkin's England's 1000 Best Churches and Betjeman's Best British Churches, 2011 Edition.
