St Andrew
St Andrew Major, Glamorgan
St Andrew's church, one of Glamorgan's top ten churches to visit.
Late Arts & Crafts church designed by John Coates Carter.
Dinas Powys, South Glamorgan
St Peter's was consecrated in 1930 as a chapel of Ease, but looks like a much older building. The stones were reclaimed from buildings at Cyfarthfa Ironworks and the church was completed just after the designing architect, John Coates Carter, died.
The church has stained glass windows by Frank Roper, Paul Quail and Powell & Sons. Look for the white friar in the east window and the St Peter's window in the Lady Chapel. The baptistry is home to an unusual second hand Norman font bought, along with a number of pews, from a medieval church in England that was undergoing a renovation. The surrounding grounds have a new community food growing garden open to all and a peaceful place to sit and relax.
