It was designed in the Victorian Gothic revival style by Cardiff architect Henry Budgen, with pointed arches, an imposing spire, and rich wood panelling inside.

The chancel is relatively shallow, emphasing the focus on congregational worship. The marble pulpit was added in 1912, with colours to echo the stained glass windows.
