A unique chance for your group to visit four outstanding historic Welsh churches in the company of one of the country`s leading ecclesiastical historians.

Discover the amazing stories historic churches give us by discovering the clues to be found in the buildings. Laugh and cry at the human tales and be blown away by the craftsmanship of centuries.

The four churches have been specifically chosen to give you a wide range of styles and periods. Each stands in a stunning location where church and landscape can be read as one.

During the day you will learn about church architecture and history in a relaxed and accessible manner and have your attention drawn to the unique details that you might otherwise miss.

John Vigar has been guiding groups around churches for over 40 years and has an amusing and engaging manner to make sure your day is both educational and enjoyable.

This tour is exclusive to ExploreChurches.

Additional details

This tour is organised and managed by John Vigar.

It's great for beginners.

The tour can start at either Newport or Abergavenny.

Groups use their own coach, but if travelling by train local recommendations can be given, or one can be arranged at extra cost to start at Newport or Abergavenny Stations.

Our usual start time is 10.30am and the tour lasts 5.5 hours. However, as this tour is designed for groups all content and timings may be changed by arrangement.

Facilities & refreshments

Toilets are available at start. They are available during the day by prior arrangement, depending where the group starts.

Coffee stops and lunch may be arranged for the group at recommended venues and extra cost.

We will meet at and return to an agreed location. There will always be a car park (sometimes paid, but by agreement) at the start and end point. There will also be a coach drop off and pick up point.

Accessibility

You will need to be able to get on and off your coach multiple times in the day. This tour does involve periods of walking and flights of steps. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users due to steps at the churches.
