The building was founded in the 11th or 12th century with the chancel added during the 14th century. The building contains a Norman south and north door. The interior of the building was restored in 1938, providing a new chancel arch and roof, this work was undertaken by WD Caroe. 

The furniture within the church is by Robert (Mouseman) Thompson.
