St Helen's is famous for its remarkable screen, a masterpiece made in about 1450.

One of the things that makes it so special is that it still retains much of its original colour. It stretches the entire width of the church, and the figures on it include the Twelve Apostles, St George, St Mary, John the Baptist and other saints. The paintings are superb, perhaps especially St George and St Michael.
The church itself is an attractive and interesting building, with a tall tower that gives splendid views over the Broads, and flint walls interspersed with elegant windows from the Perpendicular period.
Although the screen overshadows the rest of the church contents, some are clearly special. They include 15th century bench ends, misericords, a linenfold pulpit and a 15th century cantor's desk, a kind of lectern with two sides. One side has a painted eagle on it, the other a scrap of weathered musical notation.

The Dutch Church is a reformed church on the site of the 13th century Augustinian friary, the original building granted to Protestant refugees for their church services in 1550 was destroyed during the London Blitz.
