Adeiladwyd yr eglwys gyntaf ar y safle hwn yn 1841, ond fe’i difrodwyd yn ddifrifol gan dân. Yn ôl yr hanes, ym mis Mai 1891, cynhaliodd y Ficer ‘briodas yn yr adfeilion’.
The church was built in the 12th century, and its tower and crocketed spires make it one of the most splendid Perpendicular churches in South Yorkshire.
There are some wonderful treasures to see inside and outside the church. Thousands of babies have been baptised in the 14th century font and gone on to hear sermons from the Jacobean oak pulpit.
There is a great elm chest, said to have belonged to Henry Cundal, the last Abbot of Roche Abbey, and made around 1500. There are some wonderful memorials to local citizens, and beautiful stained glass windows (including some rare fragments of medieval stained glass).
