How to get here

Coming from the Wessex Way you come off at the signs for Bournemouth Hospital, Wimbourne, from the lights on the slip road go right under the fly over onto Castle Lane past the Harvester. Carry on and take the next turn right into Townsend Estate, drive straight through the estate to Throop Lane past the allotments. On taking a sharp right hand bend take the next right into Holdenhurst Village Road and follow this for about 500 yards to the Church, just past the Village Green. There is no public transport to this location.

Victorian grade II listed church with some notable stained glass windows. Our organ is a grade II listed and still played today. There is also the original Saxon font with an interesting story of how it was retrieved from the original Saxon church in the village. This Saxon church is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. 

St John's was also the Mother Church of Bournemouth when Bournemouth was first developed. Our churchyard has notable people involved in the development of Bournemouth buried in it and we also have a war grave in the churchyard.
