A handsome 14th century Grade 1 listed church with interesting and quirky stories to tell and a focal point of our small market town.

The church has been at the heart of the village of Woodford Halse since the 12th century although the church was substantially rebuilt in the late 19th century.

As one of the only Queen Anne style churches left in Birmingham, the church was founded by Job Marston, a local philanthropist, has a rich and varied history.

Built in 1848 to replace the earlier medieval church, St James’ with its gothic appearance complete with sandstone dressings, is Grade II* listed and one of the earliest works of John Loughborough Pearson, the architect of Truro Cathedral.

Sitting on top of the hill, just across the road from Canons Ashby House, this church is looked after by the National Trust, it is a fragment of the west end of the nave of the Augustinian Priory founded around 1150.
