This will be the first church that many people visit when exploring the beautiful and aptly named Golden Valley.

St Mary's church is all that remains of the medieval village of Easton Neston when, following the enclosure of the land, the village was transferred to Hulcote.

This gem of a church dating from the 12th century rightly merits its Grade I status from its commanding position overlooking beautiful rolling Herefordshire fields with stunning views to the hills around Symonds Yat and Ross on Wye.

Generally agreed to be one of the finest churches in Lincolnshire, St Helen's was already in the front rank before the Victorian architect GF Bodley added a sumptuous chancel, with painted vault and lavishly gilded reredos, in his late 19th century restoration.

This is a church for those who enjoy an architectural jigsaw. The exterior gives a clue to the complexity of the game.

Marr featured in the Domesday survey of 1086. Seventy Roman coins were recently found in the area which provide evidence of the boundary line which Marr formed at the Roman Rickneild Street.

St Laurence’s is probably the oldest building in Chorley and like most ancient parish churches in England has played a central role in the history of its local community.

Cusworth Hall was built by the architect George Platt for William Wrightson 1740-45.

Whitewashed, and with a minute bellcote, this is another delightful and remote Radnorshire church dedicated to St David.

Hooton Pagnell was recorded in the Domesday Survey, although there is no mention of a church we know one existed as in 1089 Ralph Paganel granted the church to the Priory of Holy Trinity in York.

Todmorden Unitarian Church has had a tumultuous and dramatic history, fitting of its grand and striking architecture, it is regarded as one of the finest examples of the Gothic Revival style of architecture.

St Kentigern built his church here in 560, later leaving it to St Asaph.
