This gem of a church dates from the 18th century.

Welcome to St Bartholomew's, believed to be one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in Rotherham.

Possibly built around the 13th century, the church was founded as early as the 6th century and is a classic example of the situation of the typical early medieval Welsh church.

Beautifully set in a valley landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, the most striking feature of this Cistercian abbey is the eastern end of its church, built in the new Gothic style c1170.

Sitting on top of the hill, just across the road from Canons Ashby House, this church is looked after by the National Trust, it is a fragment of the west end of the nave of the Augustinian Priory founded around 1150.

The church building was consecrated in 1848 to a design by the architect William Wallen and has been altered over the years.

A grade II listed building, designed by Edmund Kirby and consecrated in 1889 to serve the parish community of Seacombe in Wallasey.
