A small stone church of Norman origins on the village green.

Nearly four centuries ago, the founding members of Stony Stratford Baptist Church committed to raising a building to glorify God and announce His Kingdom to the community of Stony Stratford.

A tower dating from the 14th century, a 15th century wall painting, a monument to knight who fought at the battle of Bosworth, a Robert Adam font, a Joseph Nollekans monument and beautiful stained glass.

Although there has been a church here since Saxon times, much of the story of Bunbury's church revolves around a colourful 14th century knight called Sir Hugh de Calveley.

Delightful church standing in an elevated position in the heart of the village, within the earthworks remaining from a motte and bailey castle built by Winemar the Fleming who was gifted the land by William I.

The building was designed by the eminent Welsh architect, Sir William Beddoes Rees of Cardiff, opened in September 1904, Rees designed 19 Welsh churches of which only 6 survive as places of worship.

Situated at the east end of the High Street, the church is Grade I.

Described by Pevsner as ‘one of the most exciting Cheshire churches’ with plenty of bosses and also some dainty openwork pendants’.

Although there has been a church here since the 12th century, the present building dates from the mid 14th century and incorporates a number of architectural styles.

This is a Queen Anne church, in the Bollingbroke style, which is rare in the provinces, but full of natural light.
