The church is probably the most impressive in Wensleydale with a battlemented tower, nave and chancel.

Light floods into this welcoming and uplifting church, with its historic connections to the Knights Templar and the very first European settlers in America.

St Peter & St Paul is an old building; in fact there has been a church on this site since the Domesday book was written in 1086.

From the outside St Mary's looks rather odd because the tower is at the east end, where the chancel should be.

The church is a grade I listed building dating to the late 12th century and early 13th century.

The church was founded in 1841.
