St Benedict’s is a charming small church on an ancient site, part of which dates to the 12th century with well preserved 15th century vaulted ceiling paintings.

Likely the Minster Church founded by King Cnut in 1020, St Botolph boasts the oldest working door in the country.

It is believed that Holy Trinity is one of the 'four voices of four hamlets round... the merry, merry bells of Yule' found within the poem 'In Memorium AHH' by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Holy Trinity has Saxon origins but the current building was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. In 1859 the church was extensively altered by Victorian architect James Fowler.

The church stands in the grounds of the Hall, which was and still is the home of the Heneage family and the chancel and north chapel contain an unparalleled and virtually unbroken sequence of family monuments dating from the 15th century.

Providing stability and hope for over one hundred years, this Victorian city church which maintains an important link with the Duke of Wellington's regiment.

In 2019 the church celebrated its 150th Anniversary continuing the worship started in Saxon times.

Standing proud atop the hill and commanding wonderful views from its peaceful setting, St Andrew’s has many outstanding features including the graceful and lofty arches in the nave and the 16 large clerestory windows.

The church is made from a kaleidoscope of colours, greenstone, brick, limestone and red sandstone.

St Mary’s was founded in 1170 by the Norman Lord, William de Lovetott. Of this church, only part of the chancel and the lower part of the tower remain.
