Find a church

All Saints dates back to 1596 and is one of Ireland's finest Elizabethan Gothic ecclesiastical buildings with a glorious collection of stained glass and funerary monuments not to be missed.

From a distance the late medieval flint and flushwork tower is typical of East Anglian country churches, but the surprise on reaching the south side of churchyard is quite the most splendid Norman doorway.

It is believed that the first church was built on Roman foundations in the late 7th or early 8th century.

This is a real refuge from the hurly burly. Parts of the original Saxon church can be made out in the tower, and there is much else of interest both inside and outside.

An astonishing little church lost in time.

It is not known when there was first a church here but the present building indicates that a substantial church was built on this site in the late part of the 13th century.

Back at the beginning of the 20th century, Sunday worship took place in a small wooden hut, not far from the church’s current site.

Holy Trinity, Cowes is the Yachtsman's Church, built in 1832 on the Cowes foreshore the building forms an elegant backdrop to the Castle home of the Royal Yacht Squadron and is plainly visible from the sea.
