Across a railway bridge in the beautiful moorland village of Kildale, the church of St Cuthbert continues a tradition of over 1000 years of worship on this site.

An important parish church, 14th century with many later changes clearly visible inside and out, in a fine setting between the River Eden and the North Pennines.

Thanks to the powerful Neville family this once humble Saxon church was altered and enlarged until it was completed at the end of the 14th century, which is the last time any major work was done on it.

Situated within open countryside with views to the Lakeland fells, St Michael';s church lies on a mound in the centre of a circular graveyard, perhaps a pre Christian site.

This attractive church surrounded by hay meadows and views of the Pennines, is a peaceful haven on a popular footpath and close to the Pennine Way and cycle routes.

The Fell church is simple in design and plain in ornament, its charm lies in its setting and glimpse into the past.

St Mary's was built in 1856, on the site of several earlier churches, by the Londonderry family who lived at nearby Wynyard Hall.

Beautiful Norman church on site of 7th century monastery in peaceful Lakeland location and home of the Dacre Bears, four unique medieval stone statues.

In spite of the eclectic origins of its many parts, St Oswald's significance lies it its alterations and accumulation of features over time including Norman font and walls, 13th century windows, 15th century chancel and furniture by Thompson (the Mouseman).

St Kentigern, also called St Mungo, has been linked to Mungrisdale since about 550 AD and the present church, rebuilt in 1756, probably replaced one on the site of one of St Kentigern's original crosses.

Our beautiful Norman church is 900 years old in 2023.
