Built 1859-61 by architect AB Higham, the church retains much of its significant mid Victorian architectural features.

West End Church was established as a Congregational Church in 1931.

The church has Victorian origins but the chancel contains dramatic murals from the 1960s depicting the crucified and enthroned Christ flanked by angels.
