St Mary's is a grade II listed building with plenty of interesting features including an internal baptistry pool, beautiful stained glass windows, balcony historically used by fisherman and very important links to the last invasion of Britain in 1797.

This ancient village was on the pilgrimage route to Bury St Edmunds and is full of history and legend.

First mentioned in 1183 in the Bolden Book, here are two 13th century stone effigies of a knight in armour and his lady.

A 13th century church with a round tower, set in a raised churchyard surrounded by fields, on the outskirts of the sparsely populated village of Runhall.

From the outside St Mary's looks rather odd because the tower is at the east end, where the chancel should be.
