A lovely 14th century building of flint and stone dressing with thatched nave roof supported by 28 original 14th century single framed scissor braced collar rafters.

This Early English style church is built of Kentish Ragstone, with slate roofs.

Simon Jenkins, when chairman of the national trust, wrote 'Thaxted is the Queen of Essex and her crown is the church'.
