The church was built by the 2nd Viscount Halifax, keen to inspire the local community and encourage their spiritual wellbeing.

As the oldest non conformist church in Bury St Edmunds and one of the oldest in England, the bricks and mortar of this building have born witness to over 350 years of history.

We welcome visitors, including those of other faiths (we recognise much of beauty, truth and goodness in the other world faiths) to our church. Friendly dogs are welcome.

St George's was built in 1951.

Tucked away from its village, and next to Copford Hall, St Michael's is one of Essex's most important Norman churches, and has a remarkable collection of original wall paintings from the 1140s.
