A grade II listed Victorian mission church built in 1846 with the vestry added in 1895, it was badly damaged by an earthquake in 2008 and story of the rebuild is told in photographs in the church.

Dating from Saxon times, the church has many beautiful stained glass windows plus the Hayward east window.

St Mary and St Michael's church is said to have very early origins, as 9th and 10th century richly carved crosses were found on the site and are now on display in the church.
