Beautiful Grade II listed church situated in Foots Cray Meadows.

The architect responsible for the design of St John the Evangelist was Major Rohde Hawkins.

An early English building (c1160) with naval and military memorials, including a VC.

The tall Saxon tower of St Mary's was not always at the west end of the church as the original nave was dismantled in the late Norman period and the Norman chancel became the nave, with a new chancel added in the late 13th century.

An exceptionally fine church, St Mary’s bears witness to two substantial investments in its history.

The Stapleton Chantry Chapel, begun in 1299 at the behest of Miles de Stapleton, (killed with two sons at Bannockburn in 1314, was built with exceptionally fine craftsmanship.

Originally consisting of a chancel and nave, the church dates back to the end of the 12th century and is dedicated to St. Wilfrid, as are so many other churches in the Trent Valley.

Built in 1762-3 by J Warner of Caistor using medieval masonry, externally it is plain, pedestrian, but very pleasant.

The church of St Paternus stands in pretty countryside, with a churchyard that was almost certainly an early Celtic holy site, as evidenced by the circular shape of the enclosure.

This humble church is dedicated to St Edith of Wilton, the daughter of King Edgar.
