Find a church

The first church was built by the Normans shortly after 1100 AD. In spite of the need to extend, repair and replace over the centuries, parts of the original Norman church can still be seen today.

The first place of worship in Swinton was a Norman chapel of ease to Wath church, dedicated to St Mary Magdalene.

The church was founded in 1796 and is an attractive Grade II listing building.

Our church building, opened in 1819 originally seated 1500, oday the interior has been tastefully reordered to make it suitable for a wider range of activities for people of all ages; there are activities most days of the week and the church is opened regularly for viewing.
