Tucked among a small group of buildings that includes a pub, an old school and cottages is one of England's most ancient timbered churches.

All of the other Romney Marsh churches are in Kent, but this one is in East Sussex, and it is one of the latest, built in 1505 on land reclaimed from the sea.

Near the North Wales Pilgrims Way and was founded in the 5th century by St Nefydd, this church has significant links to Welsh culture and language with Catherine of Berain, cousin of Elizabeth I and known as the Mother of Wales, said to be buried here.

Join centuries of pilgrims who have visited this medieval church on the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way, nestling in its Celtic circular churchyard, surrounded by 800 year old yews and with magnificent, far reaching views of the countryside and sea.

St Mary's dates from the 12th century and is enclosed by an ancient walled churchyard with many ancient gravestones and two very old yew trees.

St James the Great, dating from the 15th century, sits in the historic village of Ince which is listed in the Domesday Book.

St Leonard's church has stood in the centre of the village for almost a thousand years.

This Grade I church is at the centre of a gorgeous rural village, with a classic village pub, and is the most peaceful place to spend a few minutes.

The oldest part of the church dates from the 13th century.
