In Roman times Castor was part of a large complex centred around Durobrivae, a little to the southwest at Water Newton, Castor Ware is a well known Roman product.

Beautifully positioned on the north bank of the river Ouse, you cannot fail to be struck by the extremely graceful tower and spire, the excellent proportions are apt to make it seem much higher than it really is.

Our building represents over 200 years of Methodist presence in St Ives with fascinating wartime history.

Dating from 1839, with beautiful stain glass windows set against the back drop of the Peak District National Park.

The current church dates from around 1800 and is situated in secluded setting with stunning views, which are enjoyed by visitors, who spend time on the benches appreciating the countryside.

St Ives Free Church is one of the oldest nonconformist churches in the country, tracing its history right back to the 1630s when Oliver Cromwell lived in the town for five years.

Only the west tower from the medieval 15th century church survives, the rest was built in 1739 by Rhodes of Barlborough and 1839 by Colvin.

Our church is in the centre of the village and listed for its historic, architectural and topographical importance.

St Laurence’s is probably the oldest building in Chorley and like most ancient parish churches in England has played a central role in the history of its local community.

Dating from the 11th century this attractive church commands views of the village and contains many interesting and attractive features.

We are the only church in the middle of a housing estate.
