Despite its sudden expansion in the 1950s with the arrival of the car industry, Leyland remains a pleasant Lancashire town of Victorian terraced cottages and suburban greenery.

At the end of a lane leading away from the village, Debden's church is a mixture of building styles from the 13th to the 21st century.

The first church on this site was erected in 1140.

The church is on the west side of the village, close to open farmland, it is a stern looking building on the outside, refaced in Bath stone in the 19th century, when the church was over thoroughly restored by William Butterfield.
