The 15th century parish church of St Peter's Brafferton overlooks the River Swale where St Paulinus baptised 10,000 people at Christmas in AD 626.

Sarah Losh (1785-1853), a local landowner, designed St Mary's in 1840, partly in memory of her sister and parents.

An ancient and interesting church, full of historical information, a quite peaceful sanctuary.

Appealingly simple.

It is believed that St Wilfrid's history goes right back to its foundation by St Wilfrid of Ripon before 700AD.

Early Quaker meetings in Kendal held at private houses. In 1687 a Friend bought the plot and building on the present site. This wonderful Grade II* listed building has a fascinating story to tell and like many other Meeting Houses, it’s well worth a visit!

Built in 1833 by William Carus Wilson, Founder of the Clergy Daughters School, as school chapel and parish church with a strong connection with local heritage and Bronte sisters.

The church of St Leonard is only 48 feet long and twenty feet wide and is a welcome haven to many walkers, cyclists, climbers, cavers, and passers by who explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
