We’re on many cycle routes and the terrain is perfect cycling country and also, if you’re on a narrow boat on the canal, you can walk from Golden Nook Bridge to find us.

With a population of barely 40 people, the village of Teigh (pronounced like 'tea') has an appropriately small but most unusual church.

St Augustine’s church dates from 1916 and is the only church in south east England designed by the great Victorian architect Temple Moore.

The church is set at the far end of the village and from here you get wonderful views over the Welland valley.

1811 Independent Chapel, built to replace an earlier Meeting House for a congregation founded in 1665 with fine Victorian interior including pews, pulpit and screen.

St Johns is a welcoming, inclusive church in a superb 20th century building where our worship is in the open Anglo Catholic tradition.

Coming into Saffron Walden from the west, St Mary's appears over ancient roofs in much the same way that it has for hundreds of years and the immediate approach to the church takes you through the unspoiled heart of the town. Photo credit: John Fielding CC-BY 2.0

Appearances can be deceptive as, although rather unprepossessing on the outside, when you enter St Mary's church you’ll be greeted with the glorious colours of the ceilings, panelling and stained glass windows.

The church is on the west side of the village, close to open farmland, it is a stern looking building on the outside, refaced in Bath stone in the 19th century, when the church was over thoroughly restored by William Butterfield.

This elegant Early English style church was built in 1843 of local stone paid for by Sir Stephen Glynne.
