The first Roman Catholic priest appointed in Denaby Main was Father Kavanagh in 1894. Services took place in a disused schoolroom near the railway.

The first church of All Saints was consecrated by the Archbishop of York in 1900.

Brookenby church was created out of the former unmarried sergeants accommodation and consists of worship area, two meeting rooms, kitchen and library.

Built in the 1850s within part of the county jail, the building was rearranged internally in 1990 to create a light filled sanctuary upstairs and community premises downstairs.

With its stark white walls and impressive high dome the outside of this building tempts visitors to explore further.

St Mary is a fine example of a church overseeing a traditional rural Wold village, the village has high hills around it and a sparkling stream beginning its journey which ends with the marsh and sea.

On a hill, high above a crystal clear pond, the source of the River Itchen, is a tranquil little Saxon church, and below it the ancient village of Hinton Ampner.

The church dates back to Saxon times and was largely rebuilt between 1864 and 1867, it features 12th century herringbone masonry on the south wall, rather unique in this part of the country.  

The Grade I church is built in flint and rubble with 14th century nave and chancel.

Treasured church with a 14th century tower, loved for its stained glass windows, rood screens, windpipe organ and unique wall tiling.

One of Cheshire’s gems tucked away down one of Alderley's lanes, the 14th century church owes many of its features to the patronage of the Stanley family.
