The first church on this site was completed in 1841 but suffered significant fire damage, in May 1891 it was reported that that the Vicar had ‘conducted a wedding in the ruins’.

Bromley parish church has a magnificent main worship area as well as three small chapels.

A church is recorded in Domesday Book in the village while there exists evidence for an older Christian heritage, visitors are welcome in the church, to enjoy its tranquillity and explore the features that illuminate its past.

Back at the beginning of the 20th century, Sunday worship took place in a small wooden hut, not far from the church’s current site.

What you see today is the second chapel on this site, in 1696 the congregation built ‘The Great Meeting House’ which served the congregation for 100 years.

The church is Grade II* listed.   The nave and chancel are 12th century, and the church was greatly extended in 1854.

The churchyard has something of the character of a village green because of the array of cottages that overlook it, including Margaret Cottages, once the parish workhouse.
