Find a church

The whole church is, in a way, a memorial to the Watts Russell family whose seat is at nearby Biggin Hall.

St Thomas a Becket church is mentioned in the Domesday Book and dates from the 12th century which leads many to believe that the church was probably redecated to Thomas a Beckett at a later date.

Claimed to date back to around 520AD, the present tower was built in the 13th century, and most of the body of the church was rebuilt in the 19th century.

St Catherine's church is an important survival from the 12th century, associated with the first church established by St Cedd.

The village of Barnwell has two churches, the parish church of St Andrews and the remains of All Saints.

In 1722 a fine early Georgian church was erected to the design of Thomas Eayre of Kettering (1691-1757), surveyor, clock maker, and bell founder (the bells here are by him as well).

A beautifully light open and simple Norman church recorded as being part of an endowment in 1090.
