A Saxon church built on the Roman site of Viroconium.

St Nicholas is beautiful in its simplicity, letting in plenty of natural light, with a clear window behind the altar which looks out on the surrounding farmland.

This is a major Grade I Norman church although the exterior apart from the tower is mainly Perpendicular.

The church has a medieval tower, a 19th century nave and chancel set within a loved and well cared for churchyard.

The church is mainly 14th century with Perpendicular tower and south aisle.

An extravagently rich interior.

The former church St Mary at the Walls (now Colchester Arts Centre) is built against the Roman Walls and overlooking the south western corner of the old walled town of Colchester.

Beautifully set in a churchyard which is a conservation area and contains the remains of a medieval preaching cross, St David's has a 14th century tower.

St Peter's is popular with walkers who find it featured in most walking guides to the area particularly as it has the second largest yew tree in UK.
