One of the most important examples of Anglo Saxon in Britain and certainly the largest, dating from the late 8th to early 9th century.

The chapel is above the old stables built at Raithby Hall in 1779 by the then owner Robert Carr Brackenbury, and is one of the oldest Methodist chapels still in use in the country.

Holy Trinity is a delightful rural church in the heart of the village conservation area with a wonderful lychgate and stone cross in the church grounds as well as memorials to the Rawnsley family from Raithby Hall.

Towering over the town of Barmouth is the cathedral sized church of St John the Evangelist, primarily funded and furnished by the Perrins family of Lea & Perrins Worcester sauce, it is well worth the climb up the hill to visit.

St Peter’s church is a large honey coloured stone built church, prominent in the centre of the village with a large west tower and a fine western doorway.

The church of St Mary the Virgin is mainly 13th and 14th century on Anglo Saxon foundations, with Victorian restoration after a devastating fire in 1840.
