St Michael's is a friendly welcoming medieval church open for worship and visits within the beautiful Dartmoor National Park.

St Margaret's dates from 1250 and in years gone by its prominent position and high tower has made it a landmark for shipping in Bideford Bay.

The village church of St Winwaloe is said to be one of the oldest in Cornwall and is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

St Peter's lies in the heart of the village near the pub, school, post office, village hall and local garage and is truly the centre of the community.

The ancient settlement of Halwell is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hagewile, a name derived from the ‘Holy Well’ which is still to be found in the churchyard. It is possible the well was in use in Celtic times.

Marazion church, across the bay from St Michael’s Mount, is perhaps best renowned for the hymn writer Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847) who wrote ‘Praise my soul, the king of heaven’ and ‘Abide with me’.
