St Michael’s church is in the parish of Stowe Nine Churches, originally simply Stowe meaning ‘Christian Holy Place’.

Our Grade II listed church was built in 1787 and stands at the heart of the village in the Dobcross Conservation area.

St Mary's was built by one Walter in 1100 AD.

Grotesque beasts, a medieval alabastar carving, impressive Gilbert Scott restorations and a relic of St Valentine give many reasons to visit.

Dating from 1839, with beautiful stain glass windows set against the back drop of the Peak District National Park.

St Michael’s sits in a verdant spot, a little way outside the village surrounded by a lush growth of trees and approached over a fine lawn guarded by a voluminous hedge.
