Bratton Fleming, Devon
Bratton Fleming is a Grade II listed building, parts of which date from the 14th century. The oldest parts of the church are the two east arches and the east end of the north aisle (14th century), the north east window (15th century) and the base of the tower (16th century).
At the end of the 17th century the tower collapsed onto the nave and north aisle, resulting in the church being substantially rebuilt. More rebuilding work took place in the mid 19th century when the chancel was extended, the three stone arches at the west end of the church were built, and the whole interior replaced.
In 2011 the extension comprising toilets, kitchen and meeting room was added onto the north west corner of the church. By this time the Anglican and Methodist congregations had joined together to become a single Church, worshipping together in the same building. With the old Methodist Chapel and Schoolroom no longer needed, these were sold to a developer, and the funds raised used to finance the extension.
The church is open daily and also for champing via the Churches Conservation Trust.
The church is dedicated to St Peter.
