St Patrick's church, Aghacommon, known as Derrymacash Chapel was built between 1829 and 1932 to replace an earlier small Mass house on the site. The architect is unknown.

The layout has been much altered since that original building with the Sacristy moved from the south side to the north side and a new choir gallery added circa 1923-1926 under the supervision of Patrick James Neary, architect of Newry.

The highly decorative and important wall linings are reported as dated from 1913-1915 and the high altar dates from 1925, from the studio of Antonio Caniparoli in Carrara Italy.
