Long Tower, St Columba


Built in 1784 this iconic Renaissance-style church was the first Roman Catholic house of worship constructed outside the historic city walls following the relaxation of the Penal Laws in the late 18th century.The church was constructed on what is traditionally believed to be the site of the city’s medieval Cathedral Teampall Mor.

This A listed church is a well-known tourist attraction and receives a Treasure Ireland grant of £6,000 to support repairs to failing timber window frames.
